Dr. Michelle Horn grew up in Laurel, MS, and has stayed true to her Mississippi roots by receiving her BS degree in chemistry from Millsaps College and her MD from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She then completed internal medicine/pediatrics residency training at UMMC. After completing a pediatric chief resident year at UMMC, she has a dual faculty appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Pediatrics. Her primary role is within the Division of General Internal Medicine where she enjoys caring for the primary care needs of Mississippi's citizens. From an education leadership standpoint, she is the director of medical education for the Department of Internal Medicine as well as being the medical student clerkship director for third- and fourth-year medical students. She also has primary roles teaching both students and residents while attending on inpatient services for both departments as well as being the faculty mentor for both the internal medicine residency clinic and med/peds clinic. Dr. Horn has been married to her college sweetheart for 20 years and has four children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, and reading as well as watching movies and sports (especially her kids as well as Mississippi State Football and Dallas Cowboys Football).
Dr. Horn truly cares for the people of Mississippi and feels that one of her biggest career accomplishments is training other physicians for the state of Mississippi. |
